Paul Stephen Lane is a married father of three living in San Antonio, Texas. Born in 1951 in Waxahachie, Texas, he has lived in Vietnam, Germany, Korea, and numerous U.S. cities extending from California to Massachusetts.

Paul enlisted in the United States Army after high school. He served a combat tour in Vietnam and a short tour of duty in Germany before separating from active duty in June 1972. He married and attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in June 1977 with a major in Physical Education and a minor in History. A distinguished Reserve Officer Training Course Graduate, Paul reentered active military service as a Second Lieutenant in 1977 in the Air Defense Artillery Branch. He served honorably and retired as a Major in 1994.
